Hi All, just in case some of you don't know me i am the Commercial Manager/ Bar and clubhouse Manager today is the first time i have been on the forum and it is only because i have been hearing the slating Godalming Town fc has been getting ,I know that is what forum's do but if all this energy was put into helping the club become bigger and better we would all be smiling . The committee help the club move along the best it can and there are some of us that spend hours at the club behind the scenes making sure the club will be around for a very long time ,as bar and clubhouse Manager i can tell you that EVERY club that has played at Godalming has thanked us for being such a friendly club and look forward to coming back next season.
Now as commercial Manager as you may gather i deal a lot with the money side of the club and i am always looking for new sponsor and ways of funding our club ,and i have NO WORRIES for next season but am always happy to speak to anyone who has any ideas for fund raising for our GREAT CLUB .
The last game of the season is quickly approaching and after that game ,we will be running a race night everyone will be there all the committee , players, and chuck and his coaching staff so for any of you that have any worries for the club come and join us and speak to us because these forum's are ok but do spread a load of RUBBISH at least if you have the courage to join us for the day you will see the TRUE GODALMING and then make up your own mind.

another point is about the under-18s,,
i play for them and im quite disappointed with chris and guy leaving to join merrow 1st team,
to be honest merrow are dogs*it,i watched them play and i was not impressed,,
i havent been giving a chance this season to play properly for the youth through other players getting in there before me and another can play,
i was thinking of going to merrow but have now decided i do not want to play adult football but i am also annoyed that i will not be able to play for the under-18s next season because all our players will be gone and another manager will be there ...

Player - the one who has no balls as you won't give your name. When you get your head out of Chuck's a**e you might want to read this forum.
You have been insulting and rude and show exactly where this club is going, respect is something you obviously know nothing about.
Up until your post this has been a very adult, very open discussion. You obviously love Chuck in the way that you accuse the starter of this discussion as loving Roger. Please read the first post again. It's not about Roger as another poster has said, it's about communication and where the club will be in 5 years.
Grow up, get a life and please don't post your poison in the discussion again unless you have something constructive to say.

also if they dont want to fund a youth team use the godalming college team, its free, they organise their own games, transport and have good facilities! I think the club should look at the Godalming College side, especially the first team as i seriously believe, after watching them about a half dozen times this season, that some of the players would be good enough for a starting place in the firsts. Evidence for this point is todays surrey ad about 'top rated teen Rob Parrott'. Parrott plays for Godalming college and Guildford City and from what i have seen is one of perhaps five or six players Godalming should definately look at. Adding to this is the fact that the College got through to the last four of the most prestigious national colleges cup this season, losing narrowly in the semis to a football academy. If you want young local players look no further than the Colege sides.

well said greg, also there are players who play for Hayes, afc wimbledon who could be persuaded to joing godalming town because of playing as an academy! its a thing which should be really thought about. Also whats with all the hiding behind names such as enraged etc, just means you wont be taken seriously

i have been following this post with intrest and i feel i need to reply to some posts firstly does anyone at godalming know what the word club means an organization of people with a COMMON PURPOSE or interest, who meet regularly and take part in shared activities: judging by how people at godalming have been behaving lately i wonder i will not name names but there are some at godalming who are there only for the power and glory . yes it is sad and worring that so many people have and are leaving and yes people do leave but i agree it is worring that so many are and it is only now that questions are being asked the unfortunate thing is that the commitee are not responing to the fans concerns at the end of the day it isn't the players that make a succesfull team it is the fans and unfortunetly the comitee and certain managers have forgotten that .it might help the commitee and certain managers to rember that you can have a winning team but with no fans the club will go under. i would also like to commet on the ex godalming players post i feel that sour grapes are your main problem especialy as you say you didn't play that much maybe you should look at improving your game rather than bitching about your manager.

This thread has dragged on and dragged up many points ... some trival and some very relevant.
From what I can see some people miss the "old Roger days" when the "club" was friendlier and more welcoming but had never been successful at this level.
Others are enjoying the moderate success Chuck has had since his arrived and are very keen to see it continue no matter what it costs the club.
From my observations I think we all have to consider the following.
1 Is success on the field more important than the family atmosphere that was prevalent up till the start of this season? 2 Can a small time club like Godalming support the ambitions of the committee et al without the local support from the community that seems lacking from the gate numbers? 3 Will it be possible to maintain a squad of maybe 20 players when 12 of those know they are in competition for only 4 outfield positions when 6 are put on contract?
Just a few questions which need some careful thought in my humble opinion.
