I believe that planning permission for removal of contaminated land and recapping at Broadwater Park Golf Club has now been granted. It seems likely that the work will take about two years, commencing later in 2019. It is my understanding that the Wey Court pitch is also built on contaminated ground. Does anyone know if the work will also include land at the football club ? If not, what is the long-term plan for the resolution of the contaminated land problem at Wey Court ?

Over 24 hours and no reply Jeff!!
I know it doesn't answer your questions but I remember seeing an article and pictures in the S/Ad a couple of years ago. It took me by surprise because one of the greenkeepers (Neil Codgbrook) who I recognised had previously worked in a bank in Haslemere and had been an attacking full back for Petersfield in earlier days. I'm pretty sure I drew attention to the reasons for the closure but never received any indications from within the club.
Obviously out of your area but Meridian TV carried a filmed interview at the golf club 2/3 weeks ago now. The Boss reckoned a lot of time and money is to be spent but will be worthwhile in the end.
It does really make one wonder especially with it being just the other side of the boundry fence. Maybe extra top soil was built up on the pitch, maybe it's a case of we hope it doesn't happen here. Let's hope a sink hole doesn't suddenly appear. Whatever the answer is surely it's worth a comment.

I do know it was discussed and the disruption would be enormous. It would mean ground sharing for at least two years, probably three, and the Council etc were unwilling to plonk a 4G pitch on the result.

Thank you for coming on with those comments John. Surely someone on the Official side would have remembered that and could have commented on here.
When you look at that could that not be false economy? It may seem doom and gloom but hypothetically what if a player slides and tears his arm or leg open due to a piece of rusty metal or glass that has suddenly lifted up. Ok, you can walk the field but there's always the potential for that one occasion.
Now this has come to light again with what is going to happen next door I wonder how visiting teams if they have learned of the situation will now feel about playing at Wey Court?
And another factor; what about the insurance company? How will they react if they have knowledge? I'm now thinking about that special game.
It's no good hiding, it's not doom and gloom; one has just got to be optimistic.

To be fair Dave looking at all pictures of all the work that has been going on down at the club,I doubt the people have time to eat at home let alone go on the forum lol.

Fair enough, but it is something that an eye should be kept on. 5 minutes though to say something.
But where are all the pictures? Are they hidden on Facebook?
Not everyone belongs to that.
As a suggestion why don't they make the club a/c so that people can view but not comment as like it is on the Godalming and Haslemere Rants/Haslemere Message board.
