‘Lethargy, poor judgement, lack of motor coordination and tendency to drop things.’
Sound familiar?
Actually, I’m describing the BMA medical symptoms of inhaling methane gas that can dribble up from old landfill sites.
Like the one under our pitch.
Obviously Guildford must have got good noseful yesterday at Weycourt as they started brilliantly, squandering well crafted chances and should have been out of sight by half time. The first sign of an inhalation problem was when Rusthall were awarded a penalty, and the taker made the mistake of taking a deep breath. I assume that must have caused instant blurred vision as he ignored the goal and put the corner flag in danger.
By the second half, the Guildford players were feeling the pace drawing in huge gulps of the stuff, whilst the young Rusthall squad were barely breathing and romped home the winners as City faded.
It was good to see some of the ex G’s again and comforting to see the familiar sight of Bobby Webbe being shouted at by his manager to shut the f**k up.
Question: Are Guildford alone in having the word ‘City’ in their name when they come from a town and not a city?
