Godalming Town 3 Dorking Wanderers Res. 1
This will be their third away game on the trot and they've picked up 4 points from their travels. Their first XI have an important FA Cup encounter with Kingstonian on Friday evening.

Personally I think it's a huge mistake to call any side 'reserves'. Immediately the opposition know that the eleven they face is not the best the club can produce (although we know from experience that their 'best' is very good). Better for the self-confidence of the players to substitute another name in the style of Real Madrid, who call their reserve team Real Madrid Castilla. So let's exploit the psychological advantage and romp home 4-1.

I know it sounds like sour grapes, but by playing Dorking res midweek must make their side a lot stronger, because they can give first team players a run out, Taylor is definitely a first team player and would be with first team if they had a game. Is there a ruling on how many first to team can play and can players drop down several leagues without informing the league first. Anyone know please.

I may be wrong but my understanding is that all players can (in theory) have dual registration to play for clubs at different steps. Logically, if so, that would mean Dorking could (in theory) register players for both teams and there is nothing the opposition can do about it. I gather from overheard boardroom banter that there were four first team players turning out for the Reserves last night. Meanwhile, we were without skipper Jordan marshalling the troops at the back, we lost our excellent centre back, Curtis, early on and Kenny came off very soon afterwards. The defibrillator was on standby for the incensed fans as we were thoroughly entertained by a referee who tried to convince us that seven yards is actually ten (maybe this deception convinces his wife, but not for the canny Gs) and later let Dorking take a free kick that had been awarded to us. ...That was a first for me. We lost of course to a better side, but you can't beat a Tuesday evening down at Weycourt for a good night out. Looking forward to Saturday's matinee.

Cheers Hendo, i just remember back in my day a res player could play for the first but the other way round caused problems. It must also upset the normal players wgen they get left out for a first player.
