Harrison Gilkes of Slough Town who made some loan appearances for Gees last season has had to announce his retirement from playing football.
From the Slough Town Board:
'Gilkesy' has a degenerative hip condition which was discovered early on in his playing career. Over recent years it has increasingly affected him, and following his knee injury and the amount of work he has had to put in just to try to get back to playing, this has put a huge strain on him, and after having discussed the matter at length with his surgeon, he has made the extremely tough decision to retire from competitive football.
Obviously we as a club are gutted for Harrison, who has been a fantastic person to be around since joining. His injury at Fleet Town in July 2016 was a tough one to take for him and us, however as a club we have stood by him and he has worked his socks off to try and get back playing for Slough Town.
Unfortunately this is not to be, and we now wish Gilkesy the best of luck for the next stage of his career. He will always be welcome back, and I am sure the Slough Town fans will send their best wishes.

That's a terrible shame. He was excellent for us in the couple of games I saw him in a Gs shirt.
