Ah my first book, and boy does it show. It's dated as elegantly as the Waddle/Hoddle hairstyle. Happy to lower the value even further by signing it.

Can’t get to the game today, am watching the reserves in the third place play off, so good luck with your first game lads, and will anyone be posting on twitter please.

Terrible with names, apologies... Anyway, the lovely bearded chap with Spot the dog published a 'book' full of invaluable technical information that I believe was priced at £9,950, or was it even more? ...maybe it was £99,000... Anyway, unlikely to be a Kindle version.

I think his name was Paul, and not sure but you may well be talking about his total profit from his book, nice bloke shame he and his brother stopped coming down, maybe they may come back now .

If he's sold a book he could buy the club.

So what did we learn? The management seem to be the most informed and enthusiastic team we’ve had for a very long time. They also won’t tolerate bad behaviour or referee badgering. Bodes well.
It wasn’t all good news though. The players haircuts this year lacked the flair and imagination of previous seasons. One set of dreads, one ‘my little pony’ and the keeper sported what appeared to be a hairy screw top. Putting that disappointment to one side, they can all play a bit and are blisteringly quick. It might just be the heat, but I’m beginning to get excited..

Phew, what a day for playing football! You must have been real heroes.
Yes, that was Paul; can't remember his surname. He did write a technical book that had a very limited circulation but he always maintained it was a very worthwhile project. As you came through the turnstile he was always at the table together with Dave Lynch giving you a big welcome and selling the club merchandise and match day programmes and Dave with the Golden Goal tickets. After kick off he would wander around the perimeter together with Spot the Springer Spaniel and his brother. He also had another big love over at Cranleigh Cricket Club; scorer and groundsman. It must be at least 3 years since I've seen him. He was walking up Haslemere High Street but I couldn't get to speak to him and I also met him at a game one Saturday over at the lovely tree encompassed ground at Loxwood. Paul offered his services to the club and was looking forward to the challenge when they were looking for a programme editor (this was before the appearance of Giles). Sadly it appeared that his offer wasn't accepted and nothing ever came of it.

Good little piece Hendo. I remember Les always had a very short crew cut and then one season I'm sure he grew a pony tail. I can't wait to ask him.

As Hendo said, it was far too hot to play football and it looked like we played two different opposing teams, one in each half.
Anyway, there were lots of new faces on display and a couple I recognised. Jack Howard, who was a fans favourite last season and I think would be a very useful signing, perhaps even wearing the captains armband? Also Nick Sowden as name from a few seasons ago with lots of energy and not afraid to get stuck in to the opposition.
Far too soon in the season to have got a handle on who is who in the squad, but give it a few games and we will hopefully be up to speed. Certainly some promising looking lads in the Gs colours so COYG's.
