I'm trying to unearth a little information about the late Leonard Lewer and his brothers George and (I think) Don. As far as I understand they played for either Godalming Utd or Farncombe in the 1950s and possibly early 60s. Would be massively grateful if anyone remembers them and can clarify who they actually played for and point me in the direction of any other information. I'm told that Len was offered a contract with Fulham but preferred to remain local. cheers Giles

Not being local to Godalming but putting 2 and 2 together could there be a connection there with a former Gees manager Alan Lewer who I believe may be the current Southport Asst Manager. Could be worth an e.mail.
What a pity dear Alan Diprose has passed on as I'm sure you would have got your info there.

Another source of help could be Mick Palmer former Player, Vice-President, Trustee and Hon. Treasurer. I thought he was a member on here but could see him on the list. I used to see him regularly in my local Tesco but not recently. Probably Pete or Jane could give you a phone number.

Many thanks for that Shots. Will follow both those leads. I suspect you're right about Alan. I'm guessing he'd be a son of one of the three brothers.

Strangely enough, I know one of his Grandsons who has asked if his ashes could be scattered at the ground

It was Stu who approached me about it, I drink with him in the Star. I'm h oping to put a small article in the first programme of the season.
