Council install bollards to stop North Ferriby owner’s travellers’ site plans
A parish council has responded to North Ferriby United owner Jamie Waltham’s plans to open the pitch to travellers by planting concrete bollards at the gates. North Ferriby Parish Council have said they had “no alternative” but to dump the large bollards at the gate of North Ferriby United’s ground after the club’s owner said he wanted to use it as a travellers’ site to boost revenue. Waltham, who bought the club late last year, claimed the idea to rent the ground to travellers could generate £2,461 a week, with the ground cleared for match days. Mr Waltham said he had already spoken to the parish council, who own the ground, about his forthcoming business plan. However, Parish Councillor Julie Abraham insisted there had been no formal discussions about using the ground for a travellers’ site. Following the reports of Mr Waltham’s plans appearing in the Mail on Saturday, the council has since responded by placing large concrete blocks at the entrances to the ground to prevent the travellers pitching up. Only one thing against it; who would be brave enough to clear them off on match days. Come on ballboy2 another job for you!
