British Army has a force of 74,000. Godalming has a population of 23,000. Giant killing required, so 2-1 to the g's.

Might seem an odd thing to say, given the score but Aiden made some great saves

Keep those heads up Gees.
Remember that was probably the cream of Army footballers, all superbly fit and playing for a place in their representative side. That result could probably have happened to a lot of teams on the night. It's the league position that counts although it would have been nice to lift a piece of silverware at a later date. And, taking on board "cranewife's" comment if it hadn't been for Aiden it would have been double figures and that would have looked bad. Let's hope it's not a confidence destroyer to the side. 8 games left to make some opponent pay for it.

Sorry to have missed the game, I was at Wembley watching VAR ruin the match. Quick question. If we supporters are the G Army, did their fans call themselves the Army Army? ..I assume their cricket team supporters are the Barmy Army Army.

I was speaking to the guy who does the administration for the Army FA after the game and he told me that this was the best team that they have had for a long time.
They used the width well and the no. 7 dominated in the first half, with the no. 2 overlapping making it very difficult for the Godalming left hand side to deal with. I am sure that they recognised this at half time and brought on the no. 17, who did the same thing on the left and a lot of goals came from ones on ones by playing the ball between our defence for the 17 to run onto. Aiden saved a few of these but the advantage will always be with the attacker.
The most frustrating goal for me was the one where Aiden held up the forward to allow the defence/midfield to get back but only a couple did and it was an easy lay off for a team mate to score.

Not sure what was worse, the score line or the journey home .. slip road closure meant detour towards Aldershot, then detoured within/around Aldershot due to more road closures, this delicate Godalming flower could do without that after a 1-9 hammering. (think I might need to start wearing shorts to every game!!)
Well played Aiden, could have been looking at 14+ without the numerous top quality saves.
Wonder how often that Army team gets to play together? Probably every day on that performance ...
Odd they didn't seem to have a physio though, Medics been hit hard in Government cut-backs perhaps?
