Too cold for shorts although I do remember back in our days wearing a pair of tights underneath them whenever we played at very low temperatures. They did help to take one's mind off the cold but cannot remember whether they added to the hardness or reduced the pain when hitting the ground.

No tights for me, were they the Nora Batty ones or black fishnet. Shortsman is it cold enough for long trousers yet?

No, most definitely not the Nora Batty type; soft and smooth. I suppose really it was a case of what the girlfriend was wearing at the time and the challenge of getting them off her. Those were great times now long ago but never forgotten. Ho, ho, ho. |

Ooh, I thought I was on a winner there. I'd forgotten there was a 3G pitch at Gander Green Lane.
Although I was reading that even with 3G you still can't be guaranteed a playing surface. Something about the plastic freezing and breaking when swept.

Some of the 3G pitch grounds e.g. Alton, Walton called off their games because of snow and ice on the terraces along with difficulties for the players and fans to make the journey. SCR did brilliantly to stage their game, but in today's litigious society, only opened the main stand for the same reason.
I actually set out to go to Gander Green, desperate for my Saturday football fix, but got discouraged by the time I got to Guildford so turned off and went to Sports Direct and stared at replica kit for ninety minutes. ....Seemed to do the trick.
