Kingstonian and Tooting & Mitcham have both been thrown out of the Surrey Senior Cup (at the Semi Final stage) for fielding ineligible players. Therefore, Whyteleafe (after knocking out Woking in the other Semi) were left with nobody to play in the Final.
What have the Surrey FA decided to do? They have reinstated Redhill and Merstham who were beaten fair and square (ie, no ineligible players were played when they got knocked out) in the quarter finals. So basically the winner of these 'losers' will play Whyteleafe in the final.
What a crap situation. Surely, if we are sticking to rules and fair play, the only thing to do would be to award Whyteleafe the cup by default. The Surrey FA miss out on a pay day this way though. The County, however, cannot be blamed for creating this situation as it was the clubs that broke the rules.
What a rubbish state of affairs - particularly for Whyteleafe who are blameless but will suffer as a result.
