I had no idea he'd departed the club. I'm assuming that's what you're meaning or has he been doing some special task for the club?

I find it a great pity that after over 30 years of service as secretary/caterer Mrs Phillips didn't even get a thank you after she had to retire through a serious accident at the club not even a card until it was mentioned to the then chairman. But she has had to pick up the secretary's job again to help the club out.As she's not a person to wimp out when the going gets tough. This she will do until the end of the season unless they get an applicant for the job. Finally I would urge supporters to give our chairman Matt Clay your support,as he is a gentleman who knows the value of please and thank you and that goes a very long way.

Well said Ballboy2.
And if his departure was as it was told to me; not by yourself I might add; it was sad, shambolic and shocking and doesn't really warrant any thanks unless, of course there was a good reason behind the happenings. If however it wasn't that way I'll willingly withdraw my comment.

I agree with every word you have said bslboy2, jane is just like one of the lads she enjoys a good laugh. And bloody soon puts you in your place and probably one of the best helpers of the football club has ever had. thankyou Jane for stepping in at the breach one more time. A true supporter. Have to say Matt seems like a decent fella, and has my support.

Thanks guys for your kind words,it maybe not widely known but Jane and myself have served Godalming Town jointly for 65 years not six months so get your priorities right next time.65 years is a bit longer than 6 months.Hard work ? Jane helped him through his 'trumatic' six months as I did when I could.

I don’t know the facts of the departure but as far as i can see Luke volunteered to take on that role. Perhaps it was bigger than he thought and he had to walk away, but he tried. As far as I know the club is still looking far a barman and kit washer. It’s going to be even harder to get volunteers if people see that you get slagged off if you take on something and then subsequently have to walk away.

Yep, I'll agree with Ballboy2 and Cranewife as you both have valid points but there is a correct way of doing things.

When you actually volunteer to help in such a role of secretary,Kitman etc it is very very time consuming. Such people can spend nite after nite down the club on there own with no help.i take my hat off to Matt clay for taking on acting chairman.luke for taking on match day secretary as no one knows what that job title really is.as for Jane you are a legend for taking it back until the end of the season total respect for mr&Mrs Phillips without you two the club would be doomed. It was a big wrench for me to leave the club again but there isn't enough people to pull together and dig in and help on a regular basis.

I know I usually write gibberish but this is a serious point here.
I have been coming to watch Godalming for over thirty years and am embarrassed to say that my only contribution to the club has been to write occasional inane drivel.
Personally, I think that anyone who volunteers, even for one afternoon, is a star and as for those few who have provided incomparable service for so many years to keep the club afloat, I can only thank them for giving me and so many others, the ability to watch local football and support the team we love.
With the wind of change now gusting enthusiastically through the corridors of Weycourt, I believe that this kind of long term service deserves permanent recognition.
I therefore propose that the main stand be named the Kyte Phillips stand.
P.S. Really nice to see the Epsom tweet praising Giles’ work on the match day programme.

I’ve got to say I agree with Hendo, anyone who puts time in at their local club is a hero, (excluding myself, I’m an egomaniac who has always wanted his own publishing empire and now I have it mwahahahaha ..... stokes Persian cat and admires shark tank). Bottom line is that there seem to be a few people on this board that wish the club well and maybe want to help on some level. I have absolutely no idea who most of you are because we all have forum names rather than real names. If we want to help the club then maybe we should introduce ourselves to each other and have a meeting on neutral ground ( back room of the Star in Church St is usually available, good ale, friendly staff) and see how we can push GTFC forwards. I’m Giles Pattison by the way (worryingly long camera lens and flat cap), it would be lovely to put names to faces and faces to forum names. I bloody love the current management team and think we’re going the right way, we just need a bit of help on a week to week basis. If I pick a date and book the room can we have an informal meeting to talk this over?

Sorry I've not got back sooner, I'll have a word with Andy about booking the room, alternatively if people prefer we could meet at the club after a game. I'll try and pick a week when we don't have a midweek game and put a notice in the programme and see if Kev can put something out on Twitter. Also important to include the Ladies in this as well so will speak to Steve and Darren when I see them next.
