Looking where they are in the league id happily take a draw tomorrow so 1-1, we're getting cut adrift at the moment so need points quickly! So a point here and a vital 3 on Tuesday shoukd help confidence a bit.

Could it be happening today? 4 - 2 to Gees.

Unfortunately I thought that was awful, think we only had two chances in the whole game, no creativity whatsoever fron the midfield/wide areas. I really want Jon and Gavin to succeed but can't see how we will with so many changes every week and only half the squad turning up for training sessions. How will they they get used to each other and gel?
I don't know what the answer is but at the moment we are only heading one way and that's down :-(

Okay, a 0-4 defeat is disappointing, but the players' commitment in the second half was outstanding. Strong tackling, of course, and some great passing. Of particular note were our 6, 4, 2 and 1. Yes, we need to take our chances in front of goal, but it was a good team effort against a pretty decent outfit.
If there are players reading this: keep it up! We'll get there: we are not going down.
What we can do to support the team is be more vocal / appreciative. Speaking frankly, there wasn't enough shouting or clapping during the match and there weren't enough of us clapping the players off. The exception to this were the kids in the stand who were great!

Smudge you can’t be serious that was a pathetic performance. Yes one of our forwards completion rates was good but I’m referring to the number of times he gifted it to the opposition or sat down on his arse. What could have been was when the manager came on and showed what a bit of effort and urgency can do. Gutless and pathetic is my summary, some of those players should be ashamed, no use the club trying to attract fans with that sort of display. See you all Tuesday for more torture.

Ps can someone remind me what chances in front of goal. Did their goalkeeper make one save?

Urgency and effort improved significantly in the second half. As I said, we do need more quality in front of goal. To be blunt, we need to have a go more often...
The key question is: how do we improve?
Changing management? No. No. No.
Continuous, endless churn of players until we find the right team? No
My view is that we need to all pull together and believe that we CAN do it.
Before moving to Godalming, I went to Sutton for 10 years. That team's success demonstrates the power of belief. Professionally, I am associated with Corinthian-Casuals, now top of the Bostik South. Again, this is a club built on belief...
So, yes, we were defeated today, but if we get behind the team and management 100%, we will start winning.

I am behind the team but you can’t defend rubbish. Two months ago we were at least hitting the post today a chance was hitting the corner flag. It’s not worth getting behind some of those players they are not good enough. Hope they read this.

Ouch!
You obviously know the club better than me, but I do know that we are now in the Combined Counties, where there is a very competitive market for good players. The things that can attract them are a stable management team and a supportive club...
Lets say that we do keep a revolving door policy. That (in my view) will lead to relegation. And then what? What is the way back?
The answer, in the long term, is youth. We need to build really good (Academy?) links with Godalming College and recruit and keep their best players. But that is not an overnight fix.
So, we need to nurture young players (u18) while campaigning hard to avoid relegation.
What would you do if you were chairman?

Stability is the key and I urge the committee with the support of the (new or temp) chairman to continue their support to the players and manager.
Sacking the previous management team was in my opinion an unforgivable and knee jerk panic reaction. The club cannot continue keep chopping and changing.
I admire alot of the fans postivity on this forum but you have to be realistic and get your head out of the sand. There has been some very detrimental decisions been made in the past that will create alot of hard pain for quite a while.
Yes, the players are working hard but the truth is they are not upto the standard in this league. Thats not saying they have hit a brick wall in their footballing lives, they need alot of great coaching skills and time. It's going to be tough.
Burgess Hill is the team I support but Godalming is my home town and I feel for the club that is down in a deep hole. Godalming could learn alot from how BH develop their players and the structure of how the club is run. They were nearly relegated from the then 'Ryman' League south back in 2012. Now establishing their selves in the Bostik Premier division under ex brighton defender Ian Chapman with stability being the key. Even selling a player to a Premier League club at the time (Hull)
Money is a dirty word and anyone who is or has been involved in football will know that!
The club has got to get strong and not weaken by the knees game after game.
Smudger makes some great comments about linking up with academies or colleges. You cannot hope and reply on players at higher clubs coming in. Its harder than ever to attract players from other clubs to join you with the required ability.
So back the club, back the management and players and keep at it.

Something also to add:
The team has got to approach each game with a defensive strategy . Grinding out draws and 0-0's and build on that. Work from the back and build on that. Forget trying to win the game in the short term. Playing one up front and being very organised behind, closing down quickly, winning second balls, passing the ball at the right time and with speed. Thinking before passing. Basic stuff...

I thought this was the idea after reading about the three new defenders during the week, only one was there yesterday though? as regards to the college link, about 90% of our current U18's are at the college, a few I would say are definately better than what was on the pitch yesterday. The managers need to get down to see them play although they see more of them at training than they do the first team players, that is still the biggest issue for me. If they don't train as a unit how the hell do they expect to play as one?

I haven’t got an answer but if we want to stay in the league grinding out a draw won’t be good enough.

Godalming 0 Bedfont Sports 4
An interesting clash of third placed Bedfont against second from bottom Gees. The battling performance on Tuesday night at Dorking in the SSC gave us hope that perhaps things were looking up for the Gees. For those who have been around Wey Court for a while, it was good to see that Dan Read was on the team sheet. He was a part of “Bakes and Unders” squad, before the departure to Slough. Just what we could do with, a centre forward who has a record of scoring at Wey Court. Unfortunately, within minutes of the kick off the visitors went ahead. A shot from the edge of the area just crept inside the post when the home defence failed to close down the opposition quickly enough after a ball from deep on the Gees right side was mysteriously played back to the centre of the pitch as a gift to their opposition. Shortly after the restart the home side had a good opportunity when Kurt Greenway cut in from the right to collect a loose ball, but he could not capitalise on the chance. Despite the poor start and the dominance of the visitor’s forwards who were so effective on the break the Gees held out until moments before half time when, once again, they conceded. 2 -0 down at half time. The second half saw a much better performance from the home side. The impressive Isy Nzello had had to leave the pitch with a groin injury just before the break to be replaced by Calum Roots. With only a few minutes of the second half gone Rory Sellick went down and had to be stretchered of the pitch to be replaced by Jon Palmer. The Gees now seemed more settled, or perhaps it was that the visitors sat back a little having a bit of a buffer. But Hakim Griffiths worked hard upfront and when Kurt Greenway was replaced by Dan Read we saw the Gees come more into the game. Hakim used his pace to beat the visiting keeper to a through pass and steer the ball past him, but as the home supporters were on their feet the ball rolled agonisingly just wide of the post. Jon Palmer was proving to be a handful for the visitor’s defence in the air particularly, but he also latched on to a quick through ball and fired low into the net, only for the stand-side linesman to flag that he had come back from an offside position. It looked a good goal to the home supporters who were less than pleased with the decision. The Gees were pushing up as hard and as far as they could but again at the death they conceded another goal and a fourth well into injury time. Good to see Palms and Readie on the pitch together again at Wey Court. Good also to see Scott Harris another legend from “Bakes and Unders” days at Wey Court, albeit as part of the Bedfont Squad. Another odd thing was that the referee somehow lost his whistle towards the end of the game and despite a detailed inspection of the pitch and checking with his assistants he could not come up with a replacement. So, he had to rely on shouting his commands. Never seen that before. Squad was the impressive Dimitri Kyriatkis in goal, Joshua Pound at full back with Matt Buck, Steve Betancourt and Alex Rodrigues centre backs, Tre Trowers, Rory Sellick, and Robert Webbe in the midfield with Kurt Greenway at number 9, Hakim Griffiths and Isy Nzello. Dan Read, Calum Roots, Scott Elgar, Tom Webb and Jon Palmer were named on the bench squad sheet. Michaels stats:- Gees Bedfont attempts 6 21 on target 2 11 corners 3 5 fouls 11 (4o/s) 19 ( 8 o/s) poss 1 47 53 poss 2 55 45 bovril status- you know it’s good. A card free game - we think! nother odd thing - to the credit of the ref.
