Just out of curiosity, why does the GTFC club badge contain the Guildford coat of arms? Also, can someone let me know when the town of Guildford can have their floodlights back now that "Guildford" has been dropped from the teams name. Cheers

To answer your first question; we seem to have been affected by a virus. Don't worry as we have been given the all clear and are healthy to start a RYMAN LEAGUE season Secondly; as far as I understand it; The Guildford City Supporters Club set up a fund to support senior football in Guildford OR the surrounding areas. Other local clubs outside of Guildford, other than Godalming, also got cash. Now that Guildford has a senior club, it was deemed unneccesary to keep the "& Guildford" tag. Pete Phillips, member of the Guildford City Supporters Club board at the time and now at Godalming, has promised to bring down a scrap book of all the press cuttings from the time and since. He also has some fantastic photos of the old Guildford City that you could use for the Guildford website. I will speak to you on Wednesday night at the Sandhurst game and I'll give you his number/email.

Don't care....I still want me floodlights back! Its great to have a web site at last, but why have the chore of registering, which will stop a lot of 'hits' and people just browsing ?
Woking FC's CardBoard is available to all to just visit and post comments, no registering required.
Not being awkward but feel that we could be more user friendly

I totally agree that it would make things easier. But having moderated the board at Dorking FC for the last few seasons I think it's a necessary evil.
Before we used usernames at Dorking we were inundated with messages from anonymous idiots stirring up trouble and insulting people etc.
As this is the club's 'official' website we have to be careful. Let's see how things go...

From now on, you no longer need to register to post.

I agree with the person who made the first comment, Guildford should have their floodlights back and all the money that was given to you. This should go to their new ground fund, this will help a club that can progress through the league not just to the next level. Really a shame that you lost again at the weekend. It is also nice to see Guildford win again, they seem to be getting it right.

Agreed, a great victory for Guildford yesterday. I was delighted when the score came through and I'm sure 'City Gent' was too!
As mentioned before; there is absolutely no obligation for Godalming to 'give back' anything. The Guildford City Supporters Trust donated to many local clubs as it was clearly stipulated in their constitution that funds should aid local football. There is no issue to be settled whatsoever.
I look forward to attending Guildford's next game in the Vase in a couple of weeks.
