When I looked at the result of Gs pre-season friendly at Littlehampton on the club website and saw 4-2, I thought " Oh,good. Gs have started the season with a win ". It was a few days before I realised that this was a 4-2 defeat. I watch a lot of non-league football and it is my experience that most clubs record " their " team's score first and not the home team's result first ( unless " their " team is playing at home, of course ! ). This is the case with most Bostik ( now BetVictor ! ) League clubs, National League clubs ( eg Woking ) and Combined Counties League teams ( eg Colliers Wood United ) that I saw play at home last season. Historically it has always been the case that results have been recorded in this manner and not always showing the home team's score first. Please can the Gs website and programme record results in this way this season. So, the Littlehampton result would be 2-4 and not 4-2. A W, D or L would also help.

FFS, how pedantic. Result looks quite clear to me. The home result always comes first on any result sheets I’ve seen.
Whoever does the recording carry on as you’ve always done please as simple to understand.

Totally agree with you JeffB. The way that you are describing is the correct old tried and tested method.
If I remember correctly last year's results were posted Willy Nilly and unless you were in the know they could have been termed as confusing. These have now been deleted so one cannot check this out.
The other way of looking at it is goals for and against. Goals for is first and goals against follows in both results and table formatting.
I do think tg was being a bit sharp with you. After all you were only trying to point something out just the same as I have. That's what Forums are for.
