Sad, very, very sad news Pete. A true Gentleman who will be so greatly missed. I never realised Bill had achieved that age. My sincere condolences to everyone. What an achievement with the pitch; an incredible man; a never say die spirit. RIP Bill.
Not really the thing to speculate at this moment but there must be an Annual Memorial Trophy game for this stalwart against perhaps the good people at Badshot Lea as we already have one against City.

Really sorry to hear the news. I didn't know Bill well but I am aware of the huge amount of time he gave to the club over many years. I hope that the club will provide an appropriate tribute to him.

98. An incredible journey for a man. The ability to lead and inspire so many for so long with such tireless energy is a gift rarely bestowed on one person. Today, the Club has lost a lot more than a President. RIP Bill, and thank you.

So sad to hear this, Jane told me yesterday that Bill was back in hospital. I spent yesterday afternoon trying to get the pitch playable for Tuesday night and was thinking of him as I went up and down the pitch on 'his' tractor. He was still cutting the pitch twice a week this summer. ( A few times I had to wake him up as he had a little snooze in the middle of the pitch on the tractor) I've only known him a few years but what a lovely fella. RIP Bill

So sad to hear about Bill. Compared with many of you on here and around the club I only knew him for a relatively short time but he was an absolute gentleman and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. COYGs

Sad news today. Bill was a real gentleman who loved our club and was tireless on and off the pitch. I think the picture below from the programme of our recent home match with Chertsey is how I will best remember him. RIP Bill

Really sad to hear that Bill Kyte has passed away.
When, some 3-4 years back, some of the fence between the club and the golf course blew down in a gale, Andrew and I turned up, in the dark, to give Kev Sheperd a hand to prop it up and make it safe. Bill was there as well of course giving his instructions and getting stuck-in. Although clearly no youngster I could not believe it when Kev told me how old he was. But you could not stop him.
Only a week or two ago he was in the stands cheering on the lads, although clearly the effort of getting up and down the stairs to the stand was becoming a problem. He still had the smile, the ready wit and most of all the determination that he was going to do it. He was a fighter. We can all learn from that.
Bless you Bill. It was a pleasure to have known you, albeit for a few years.

I didn’t know Bill apart from nodding to him on match days. What I do remember is that out of season if I ever turned up to help out he was always there, arriving before me and leaving after me. A loss to the club.

I would like to offer deepest condolences from everyone at Guildford City.Such sad news.
I first met Bill when I was involved in the organisation of the Tony Burge Memorial match back in 1992. Soon after Ros & I were dragged in to helping out. Spent many hours stone clearing and watering the pitch. In those days that was as far as Bill would allow anyone to help him on his beloved turf. As I got more involved with the Club he was always there, always supportive. He never felt it was his position to tell you what to do but would always offer sound advice if asked. Despite not having been involved for some years now we have been back regularly and Bill was always insistent we visit the boardroom. Last time we saw him was the City game on Bank Holiday Monday.
He was a great man, aggod friend, and will be much missed by a great many people. Will be there tomorrow to pay our respects. RIP

Really sad to hear the news of uncle Bill's passing, finally reunited with his beloved wife, the end of an era within the family. Such a big character will leave a massive hole in a lot of people's lives. Special thoughts to his three girls and their families at this difficult time. R.I.P. uncle Bill love Alison & John xx

I am really sad to hear that Uncle Bill has passed away. I can remember him coming to see us on a Sunday morning, donning on his wellies and then going down the river Avon to pick watercrest. He will be missed by us all?
