Benefit match for Dorking FC club captain - Stewart Vaughan - Dorking v Portsmouth XI, Tuesday 27 February 2007
Dorking club captain Stewart Vaughan has recently been advised that he is suffering from a life threatening illness. Stewart has been with the club for 6 years, and before that played also for Leatherhead and Croydon Athletic, and is only 27 years old.
On Tuesday 27 February, Dorking will entertain a Portsmouth XI. The premiership club have readily agreed to send a side to Dorking's Meadowbank ground to play a benefit match for Stewart. The Portsmouth team will be led by their current reserve team manager, ex England and Arsenal captain Tony Adams.
The game kicks off at 7-45pm,and Dorking FC are hoping all local non league clubs and fans will back the benefit game.
We would urge as many of you as possible to support this worthy cause. Dorking's affiliated youth clubs, Dorking Girls FC and Brockham Badgers FC, as well as St Martins FC will be providing a guard of honour before the game for Stewart on the night.
The match will receive strong coverage in the local press in the lead up to the match.
Prices on the night are £5 adult and £3 children. Kick off is 7-45pm, and the match will take place at Dorking FC, Meadowbank, Mill Lane, Dorking.
Dorking FC are also hoping to arrange a further benefit game versus Crystal Palace for Stewart in April, more details to follow in due course.
