Together with my dog I watched a Guildford & District Alliance League game at my local rec. yesterday. Totally enjoyable, especially being able to watch from in the car with the heater on.
They were all heroes out on the pitch and I'll tell you why. The bitterly cold conditions and not the best of conditions underfoot but nobody complained.
The Referee was a young lad firmly in control and not so much as a disputing any decisions from either side even if he got 2 or 3 possibly wrong. It was the true meaning of the word Respect in football. What a pity it doesn't extend further up the leagues.
I found out afterwards that the Ref. was only 16 and the chap I saw with a clip board when I arrived transpired to be his assessor. I hope he gave him full marks.

Good to see that the players managers and staff of both Manchester clubs read your post and were inspired by it
