Due to a previous comment on this forum about the lack of support from the shed end boys and the abs-ency of the drum, as a group we decided to show our commitment and love for Godalming Town by taking the away trip to Esher to see Godalming Town v Met Police. We organised for a large group of boys to take the trip to Esher only to be let down by a few lads and more importantly the drum player. Although we still decided to take the trip and show our support with the six Shed Enders we had gathered together. After a difficult, long and expensive trip we arrived at Esher to be welcomed at Esher train station with a phone call telling us that it was called off. By this point we where extremely wet and we re-grouped to decide what to do. We came to the conclusion that we should still go to the stadium to make sure the game was off and to also show the players that we made the journey and more importantly made the effort. We then made the short walk down the road in the pouring rain to be greeted at the Met Police's ground by the team training. We walked past a number of times and also stopped for a short time to watch the training session and in this time we had no recognition from the players and not even a hello. This angered us as we had made the long journey and even though we appreciate the game was called off and none can do anything about that, the lack of appreciation for us as fans who have been to most games this season bar one or two home or away. We have tried our best, backed the team, out sang teams like Hastings and Walton and the lack of appreciation from the players we think is disappointing.

It's annoying to have gone that far and not be appreciated when most teams would love to have the support and dedication that most of us show godalming

It's a shame that the game was off but that's down to the 'old Bill'calling it off too late they were asked at 10am 'had the ground been inspected'the answer was 'No'not until the Ref arrives at 1-30pm so it was more than difficult to inform all concerned as we lost count after 22 calls. We got there and turned stright around when told it was off we wern't informed until 1-36pm.However we apologise to all,but really it was down to the Police.

i agree to some extent, but i know that some of you will be in the under 16s squad so at training why dont you get some balls and tell the players that your not happy! then they might realise how lucky they are to have more than 3 fans who live down the road like some clubs at gees standard most probably do!

i dont understand y we should be so faithful to a team if they aren't faithful to us. all it takes is a few hellos for a few happy fans but instead we went back on the long journey feeling like idiots for making the effort.

We walked through the rain sat on a train that nearly broke down, to watch are local club. We have been to the majority of away games and near all home games however we still dont get the regognition. We completed a 20 mile sponosred walk and the same story. When you look at others club at this level they have a near absent support. I wont be seeing you tuesday!

Whilst I understand everybody's frustration, I also feel that this is getting a bit silly. Yes, it was very annoying going all the way, but we have to remember it was the pigs who called it off, not Godalming. You can't deny the work-rate the players put in week in, week out. The 'Shed End' support is fantastic, and long may it continue, but the players themselves must have been annoyed after going all that way only for Steero to make them train! Lets just get behind the lads, and concentrate on staying in the Ryman!

To the Shed End Boys. I have read your notes and feel very disappointed that some of you feel this way. I know i speak on behalf of all the players and management that we very much appreciate all the time, energy and money you put into supporting the lads. I am very sorry that we didn't acknowledge you all at Hastings, but i know the players were all very down at the end of the match having put in such a good performance and coming away with nothing. As for yesterday, again i apologise if none of us said hello, but to be quite honest the players worked extremely hard for 2 hours and having been involved in the training session myself, we were all totally absorbed and focused on what we were doing, and as a result, quite often you are unaware of what is going on off the pitch. I would confirm to you all, that the players and management team greatly appreciate your support, and probably like you, we are all still very much learning from week to week on how to deal with different things at a new level. Can i suggest therefore, that In order to avoid this sort of situation arising again and that in future you all feel very much a part of what the club is trying to achieve, how about holding a 'Supporters Forum' say every month ish? This will hopefully not only give you the opportunity to tell us your thoughts and suggestions, but more importantly maintain a good level of communication throughout the club. Let me know what you all think of the idea? Kind regards Roger Steer 1st Team Manager
