I'll try to remember to put these up when available.
Happy New Year to you all, we hope you all have a peaceful and healthy year ahead.
It continues to be a busy time with players coming and going as I build a squad that will take us up the table and more importantly building towards next season.
I would like to thank Richard Acheampong and Craig Adu-Adjei for their contributions this season and wish them luck moving forward, Craig has taken a coaching job abroad and Richard is on trial at a team in Cyprus.
We have over Christmas found ourselves with no less than seven players injured, suspended or unavailable. This has given first team opportunities to youth team players, Frankie, Charlie and Liam. The experience gained will be priceless for them and bodes well for the future. We have also added a more local feel to the youth team by signing another seven players to that squad.
In terms of the first team, Joe Lewis, Ollie Stevens and Reegan Scotcher are proving to be great additions to our squad and although only being 18/19 they are getting better game by game. Ollie is currently on a great scoring streak and is such a humble member of the squad. Jack Cleevely often doesn’t get a mention due to our relationship but his contribution is greatly underestimated.
The form of Curtis Osano is so important to us as well as his calming influence and for this reason I have made him captain. Jack Howard’s tenacity has led to an ankle injury but we are hoping that he will be back this weekend. I’m surprised that with the way he works he hasn't had more injuries.
I will always be looking to build our squad so that we have a future not just a 'right now', as I have explained before they have to be the right fit for our club; honest, hardworking, reliable and willing to wear our badge with pride. If players don’t fit that criteria they won’t be here long.
I have been continually disappointed that I haven’t been able to put out what I believe to be the strongest squad due to player injury and unavailability.
We have a tough second half of the season and look forward to your continued and fantastic support. We finished the year with a win, let’s all make sure we start the new year with one.
Finally a big thank you to Jason Kerbey and his company Elmwood coach works who has offered to sponsor our player's tracksuits as well as all the other help he continues to give me.
cheers
