Think we could scrape a 2-2 today. Hopefully have a squad to pick from?

Godalming Town 2 – 1 Sandhurst Town
Three points at last. What a relief. We need a few more three pointers. On a dark dismal day when the heavens opened up halfway through the game we still left the ground with a smile on our faces.
Again, without any recognised wingers (Darren Wheeler was watching and confirmed that he was still injured) and Jordan Bird presumably suspended, Craig Adu – Adjei in the right back position, starting for the first time with Joe Lewis, Curtis Osano and Ashley Wright at left back in front of Jordan Knight. Jack Howard in front of the back four, Chris Burke, Reegan Scotcher and Jack Cleevely, Ollie Stevens and Richard Acheampong upfront. Dom Hardisty, Charlie Chanel and Matt Kerbey on the bench.
After only 15 minutes with the home side playing towards the road end Richard battled well for the ball amongst the visiting defence and the ball was played forward where Ollie Stevens reminded us how quick he is to spot a chance when he go between the defenders and their keeper and lifted the ball over the keepers head to put the Gs one up.
While it was a game which did not feature too many clear-cut chances for either side it was quite a midfield battle. Richard was playing for the first time I think alongside Ollie and the pair of them complimented each other. Richard with plenty of skill at his feet and the physicality to back it up and Ollie again with no little skill and plenty of quick thinking, energy and an eye for the opportunity.
I was also impressed by Joe Lewis after a few games alongside Curtis and looking comfortable there.
Fifteen minutes in to the second half Jack Cleevely chased down a ball in typically energetic style that was going nowhere wide on the Gs left. He hit a good shot that the Sandhurst keeper appeared to have covered, until one of the defenders in front of him mis-headed the ball and steered it into the net leaving his keeper flat footed. Jack deserves a few breaks after his repeated energetic performances. G’s 2-0 up.
Ollie Steven put in a run and the final shot brought a good save from the visiting keeper.
Then with the rain pouring down Jordan Knight, normally so solid at the back mis-hit a clearance straight to a Sandhurst forward on the edge of the area who took the opportunity calmly to pull back 1 goal.
With the rain absolutely pouring down the Sandhurst number 10 received a second yellow and a red card.
Another yellow card to Sandhurst as Jack Howard is taken out. His energy is tremendous and despite his size he battled for everything.
Jordan Knight was sharp minutes later when he had to make a close range save beating the ball around the post from a fierce shot.
Richard who had a super game showed all his strengths as he charged with the ball from his own penalty area beating numerous defenders on the way only for the final shot to be blocked.
But the Gs hung on for the three points.

Bovril Status: Three point Bovril always tastes the best. From the first sip of beefy magic to the salt drenched liquid tar that glooped its way down our throats at the end this was bliss. Hats off to the Oven Door magicians. Pure class!
